COOKE CO.: common in narrow band of medium- to short-
stature grassland on very shallow clayey soils atop flat
bench of Cretaceous limestone situated between taller
grassland on gentle slopes of slightly convex ridgetop above
and deciduous woodland on steeper slopes of canyon below,
ca. 0.8-1.0 airmiles S of Co. Rd. 398 bridge over Clear
Creek at Leo, at N33°26'46.6”, W097°23’30.6”. LO Unit of
Dixon Ranch. Greenwood Quadrangle. Elev. 870 ft.
Band dominated by Bouteloua rigidiseta and Aristida sp. Other associates
include Ambrosia psilostachya, Bifora americana, Bromus japonicus,
Callirhoe pedata, Calylophus berlandieri, Cirsium undulatum, Echinacea
angustifolia, Erigeron strigosus, Gaillardia pulchella, Lindheimera texana,
Linum berlandieri, Mimosa sp., Scutellaria drummondii, Tetraneuris
linearifolia.
