SAN JUAN COUNTY. Dark Canyon Wilderness, Dark
Canyon, ca 3/4 mile west of Lean-To Canyon, in vicinity
of T33S R16E SW1/4 S. 32, 110° 11.50’ W, 37° 51.3’
N, 4000 ft elevation.
In canyon bottom, sandy or cryptogamic soil, with
Populus, Salix gooddingii, Ephedra torreyana, Viguiera
frutescens resinosa, Vulpia, Fallugia, Chtysopsis
villosa, Gutierrezia, Tamarix, Oenothera longissima,
Cercis occidentalis, Datura wrightii, Mirabilis
multiflora, Physaria newberryi, Astragalus molissimus,
Rhamnus betulaefolia obovata, Stephanomeria
pauciflora, Castilleja linariifolia, Amsonia tomentosa
stenophylla, Thymophylla pentachaeta, Hymenoxys
argentea, Gilia hutchsinfolia, Gaillardia, Penstemon
eatonii, Senecio multilobatus, Fendlera rupicola,
Coleogyne ramosissima, Chrysothamnus, Stanleya
wrightii, Juniperus, Sphaeralcea leptophylla, Fraxinus
anomala, Galium, Oenothera pallida, Bromus rubens,
Rhus trilobata simplicifolia, Opuntia polyacantha
erinacea, Brickellia microphylla scabra. Fairly frequent
herbaceous perennial, rays yellow, pappus white.
