Plants annual from a slender taproot; receptacle paleaceous; ray florets present, pistillate, the ligules persistent, flanked by 2 sharp cusps, the upper surfaces yellow, the lower whitish with prominent green veins; disc florets greenish, epappose; cypselae ridged-tuberculate, those at the center of the head winged.
