Canada. Alberta. Kananaskis Provincial Park, near Mount Arethusa at Kananaskis Summit (Highway Pass) ca. 40 miles south of Highway 1, ca. 1/2 mile west of and 500 ft. above Highway 940.

Habitat
Steep 50%+ east-facing slopes of powdery coal talus and rock ledges. In draw in hard rock talus and powdery coal talus just below timberline. With Poa arctica, P. rupicola, P. alpina. Dominants: Dryas octopetala, Salix. Also with Erigeron compositum, Saxifraga bronchialis, Smelowskia calycina, Silene acaulis, Phacelia sericea; Abies and Larix very sporadic.
