TRAVIS CO.: shrubs with stems up to 6 feet long, with
gnarly bases more than 8 inches in diameter; rare, one
cluster of 5-10 individuals in rather open woodland of
stunted Ashe juniper and live oak on rather xeric steep, W-
facing slope of Upper Glen Rose limestone, near E edge of
park on E side of Bull Creek, ca. 0.4 airmiles SSE of jet.
Loop 360 and Lakewood Dr., ca. 0.7 airmiles NE of jet.

Austin West Quadrangle. Elev. 700-750 ft.
Occurrence seemingly natural, i.e., not planted (but possibly escaped from
cultivation?). Associates include Amsonia longiflora var. salpignatha,
Castilleja purpurea var. lindheimeri, Euphorbia villifera, Galphimia
angustifolia, Garrya ovata var. lindheimeri, Gymnosperma glutinosum,
Juniperus ashei, Mimosa borealis, Muhleribergia reverchonii, Nolina
lindheimeriana, N. texana, Oenothera macrocarpa, Photinia sp., Polygala
lindheimeri, Quercus fusiformis, Quercus sinuata var. breviloba, Rhus
trilobata, R. virens, Salvia roemeriana, Stillingia texana, Verbesina
lindheimeri, Vanonia texana, Viguiera (teatata, Wedelia hispida, Yucca
rupicola.
