right-of-way and active railroad tracks, east side of
town, south side of U.S. Route 30. Waterman 7.5 min.
quadrangle. Elevation about 800 feet. Alkaline, moist
clay - loam; possibly original ground surface.
Mesic prairie remnant along old powerline bed. Flowers
yellow, bracts green, rather shiny, on few branched
inflorescence 1.5-2 meters tall; leaves basal, rigidly
erect; occasional perennial herb.
