Annual, scattered on loose soil in openings.
In chaparral association with Quercus john-tuckeri,
Arctostaphylos glandulosa, A. glauca, Ceanothus
cuneatus (C. oblanceolatus), Eriodictyon crassifolium
nigrescens, Heteromeles arbutifolia, Salvia mellifera,
Lepechinia sp. nov., Trichostema lanatum, Eriophyllum
confertiflorum, Melica imperfecta, etc.
