Outer banner petals pink with inner veins purple; keel petal deeper
purple. Growing in sunny sandy dry soil at forest edge in
association with Euthamia graminifolia, Gaylussacia baccata,
Schizachyrium scoparium, Viola sagittata, Chrysopsis mariana,
Crocanthemum canadense, Eupatorium hyssopifolium, and
Morelia caroliniensis. Note mucronate leaf tip.
