    "Dwarf pine barrens," scrubby vegetation, with "trees" 1.5 m. tall and an occasional Pinus taller, to 3 m. tall. On sterile sand.

    Tree 2.5 m. tall. Some cones open, some closed on the same trees, the individual trees differ as to the proportion. Cones persist for many years. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
