Habitat
Virgin old-growth forest dominated by hardwoods inclimax state (primarily Liriodendron and Fagus, with Acer saccharum, Carya, Ilex, magnolia macrophylla, Oxydendrum, Quercus rubra) and numerous old growth hemlock (Tsuga, recuiting) in narrow N-S canyon. Corticolous on fallen branch.
