San Mateo Canyon about "Potrero Escondido", an isolated area of low relief topping the ridge system due west of the junction of Tenaja Road (7S01) and Los Alamos Road (7S04) at the confluence of Los Alamos Creek with the main trunk of San Mateo Creek, T7S R5W E2/3 Sl/2 sec. 16, Nl/4 SE1/4 sec. 21. Elev. ± 2200'. Mosaic of Adenostoma fasciculatum - Ceanothus crassifolius chaparral, Eriogonum fasciculatum - Salvia apiana coastal sage scrub, and Quercus agrifolia woodland surrounding well developed Stipa pulchra grassland.
