Description
Tree, 32 m x 50 cm, with low buttresses, bark reddish-brown. Upper part of flower head yellow, middle, depressed zone yellow, lower zone red. Heads knocked from tree at ca. 6:00 p.m., flowers open, drops of nectar at apices of anthers, these heads with copious nectar under them after they had been left on the table. Lonchophylla thomasi visited heads in cage, took nectar from depressed zone most commonly and sometimes from lower red zone; never from upper zone. Voucher for floral aroma study. [Photos].
