Growing in hay field, parasitizing Trifolium repens, Trifolium
pratense and possibly other species. East exposure, ca. 2840ft
elevation, mid and upper slopes. 300-400+ plants present on
ca. 3 acres. Shady Valley Quad Map
Most plants single stemmed, usually not branched
unless stem was damaged; a few plants multiple-stemmed
from root, again usually not branched.
First collections made on 2009-0526 (#7050
deposited at ETSU). A “Century Collection” of at least 100
plants was made on 2009-0530 (#7051) for distribution
(multiple sheets mailed to TENN).
NOXIOUS WEED: This is the 2nd report for the species
in TN and the 1st reported infestation. APHIS & TN Dept, of
Agriculture have been notified. The 1st TN collection was
2001 in the vicinity of Roan Mountain.
