GLASS MOUNTAIN REGION: N edge of Long Valley; springfed
meadow above 4WD ranch rd., near base of slopes rising N.
(Dexter Cyn. quad: 37° 45.79'N, 118° 49.354’W; T2S R29E S19,
NW/4 of NW/4). Alt.: 2256m/7400ft.
10° SSW-facing springfed meadow, appx. 40m across. Heavily
grazed and (recently?) burnt meadow and surrounding scmb.
Granitic and pumice soil. Dry bajada uplands densly infested with
Bromus tectorum, with occasional recovering Artemisia
tridentata, Purshia tridentata, Prunus andersonii, Leymus
cinereus, Hesperostipa comata, Mentzelia congesta. Meadow with
Carex, Cirsium, Rosa woodsii, Smilacina stellata, Aquilegia, and
Populus tremuloides just uphill.
Common, scattered in meadow and edges.
