Elev. 1060m 18° 18.884' S, 43° 33.072'W Sandy seasonally wet areas bordered by campo rupestre. Locally common growing sympatrically with L. adamantium, L. bradeana, L. chamaepitys, L. mucorifera and L. rigida. Shrub to 1 m tall. Flowers 6-merous. Petals deep pink-magenta. Calyx lobes red at anthesis turning brown and scarious with a black distal area. Androecium yellow; the larger anthers turning brown. F. Almeda 9096 19 September 2005 with A.B. Martins, R.
