Minas Gerais: Municipio of Diamantina: 13 km south of the main
plaza in Diamantina on the road to Sao Gonsalo do Rio das
Pedras. Elev. 1060m
18° 18.884' S, 43° 33.072'W
Sandy seasonally wet areas bordered by campo rupestre. Locally
common growing sympatrically with L. adamantium, L.
bradeana, L. chamaepitys, L. mucorifera and L. rigida.
Shrub to 1 m tall. Flowers 6-merous. Petals deep pink-magenta.
Calyx lobes red at anthesis turning brown and scarious with a
black distal area. Androecium yellow; the larger anthers turning
brown.
