dark red, glaucous, shiny when rubbed,
broadly obovoid or broadly elliptic,
sometimes quadrangular, 8.7-12.8 x 8.2-
12.9 mm wide; infructescence 4-9.5 cm
wide, 5-38 frt/infr; 2-7 sd/frt; seeds 3.7-4.5
x 2.3-2.9 mm wide; cartilaginous carpel
summit funnelform, (not truncate),
pubescent, carpel margins free most of
length; partial shade, brushy bank by
surface road, at Pacific Crest Trail, elev.
