Selena triglomerata Michx.
Polk Co.: Lincoln Township T81N R24W Sec 32 NW4 SE4
Site is approximately 1.5 mile east of Polk City. A fairly
good, 40 acre mesic to wet hay prairie (owned by John
Moeckly), surrounded by pasture and crop ground. This
prairie has small (<0.5 acre) pothole marshes and some of
the mesic prairie occurs on little hills (< 1.5m high and <0.3
acre in size). Prairie is on the Des Moines Lobe.
Infrequent on mesic prairie hills in the central part of the site,
With Coreopsis palmata, Lobelia spicata, Phleum pratense,
Poa pratensis, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Stipa spartea,
Thalictrum dasycarpum, Trifolium pratense and Zizia aurea.
This is the first known collection of S. triglomerata from
Polk County.
