T. 6N, R. 3E, NW1/4 NE1/4 SE1/4 Sect. 30 Illinois Route 185 (FAP 777), east side, 0.2 mile south of German Reformed Cemetery, 0.5 mile northwest of Little Hickory Creek bridge; about 10 miles due east-southeast of Vandalia. Brownstown 7.5 minute U.S.G.S. quadrangle. Elevation 560-580 feet. Disturbed sandy clay-loam. Dry-mesic upland forest, open roadside bank dominated by Juníperas virginiana, Prunus serótina, Quercus imbricaría, Eupatorium spp. Rays yellow, disc golden-orange; locally common rhizomatous colonial perennial herb 2 meters tall; southwest facing roadbank slope in full sun.
