Hill, Dec. 2000 Asteraceae ILLINOIS: LASALLE COUNTY 41° 18' 38" N, 88° 57' 15" W; Starved Rock 7.5 min. quad.; T. 33 N., R. 2 E., center of NW/4, NE/4, NE/4, section 26; Starved Rock State Park; vicinity of IL Rt. 71 bridge crossing over Hennepin Canyon Stream, NW quadrant of that crossing. South side of Illinois River. Deer Park township (9 km SW of Ottawa). Elev. ca. 600 ft. Disturbed sandy soil and humus at roadside slope. Possibly calcareous. Mesic upland forest bordering dry sandstone barrens at canyon rim, Acer saccharum, Carya spp., Quercus spp. Rays and disc yellow, most past flower; leaves scabrous; frequent rhizomatous perennial ca. 1 m tall in large colonies, on banks, slopes.
