Rubus niveus Thunb.
ROSACEAE
Sprawling shrub, locally common, primocanes arching
to 6ft high, stems to 8ft long; flowers small, sepals
green-pink, petals & stigmas magenta; fruit ripening
from red to nearly black. Growing in a small, semi-
shady gap in a tropical hammock woodland, in rocky
loam over limestone (Krome very gravelly loam;
loamy-skeletal, carbonatic, hyperthermic Lithic
Udorthents). Hattie Bauer Hammock, the site of the old
Orchid Jungle nursery, around O.lmi E of Newton Rd.
(SW 157th Ave.) & 0.2mi S of SW 264th St.,
Homestead, Miami-Dade Co. Elev. about 10ft. 25° 31'
