T. 10 N., R. 11 W., NW 1/4 SE 1/4 SE 1/4 section 18. East side of Illinois Route 1, 0.5-0.95 mile south of Ernst Road. Along dismantled railroad right-of-way (New York Central Railroad), Snyder 7.5 min. quadrangle; elevation 560-570 feet. West-facing slope, moist to wet disturbed clay-loam. Remnant mesic savannah area, partial shade, with Aster praealtus. Rays and disk golden yellow; locally common erect rhizomatous perennial, leaves very dark green, scabrous above. Steven R.
