Creek bridge, about 10.4 miles due east-southeast of
Vandalia. North side of creek. Brownstown 7.5 minute
U.S.G.S. quadrangle. Elevation 540-550 feet.
Disturbed sandy loam, floodplain terrace along stream.
Floodplain forest, dominated by Acer negundo, Acer
saccharinum, Morus rubra, Comus drummondii,
Campsis, Polygonum spp., Leersia virginica. Rays and
disc golden-yellow, ray veins greenish beneath;
occasional to locally common erect perennial herb 1-1.5
m tall, associated with Phlox paniculata, Silphium
perfoliatum, Rudbeckia laciniata. Near creek margin.
