Flat bottom of valley, unshaded roadside ditch with Daucus
carota, Polygonatum canaliculatum, Rhus typhina,
Silphium perfoliatum, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Helianthus
tuberosus, H. giganteus, surrounded by cornfields.
Colony; plants to 2 m. tall. Rays bright yellow, a slightly
lighter and purer lemon-yellow than no. 55950 Helianthus
tuberosus growing here; disc slightly darker yellow-orange.
