Showy, to 2.2 m. tall, some plants shorter, in loose colonies.
With Heracleum lanatum, Pteridium aquilinum, Corylus
americana, Phalaris arundinacea, Vernonia fasciculata in
lowland between old railroad (now bike trail) and cornfield,
but not generally flooded by Pine River from adjacent
floodplain. Roots horizontal, somewhat thickened. Rays
bright yellow; disc slightly darker yellow-orange.
