Elev. 5325 ft. In rocky (basalt) soil on SW-facing roadcut with Quercus. Yucca. Juniperus & Pinus. Taprooted annuals to 1.2 meters tall; herbage hispid; leaves to 12 cm wide; involucres to 4 cm wide; phyllaries to 10 mm wide, the apices abruptly acuminate; paleae incon- spicuous, not strongly bearded; corollas of ray florets yellow.
