Yo*> BOTANICAL Harvard University, Gray Herbarium (GH) PLANTS OF NORTH DAKOTA Grindelia squarrosa (Pursh) Dunal var. squarrosa ASTERACEAE Herbs to 3ft tall, locally abundant, flowers yellow, plant sticky & smelly, especially heads in bud. Growing in a weedy, disturbed prairie remnant in gravelly loam (Sioux-Arvilla sandy loams, 9-25% slopes; sandy-skeletal to sandy, mixed, frigid Entic to Calcic Hapludolls). Growing with Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Artemisia absinthium, Bouteloua curtipendula, Bromus inermis, Cirsium arvense, Elymus trachycaulus, Melilotus albus, M. officinalis & Verbena bracteata. Along the west side of Rt. 281, about 5.45mi S. of the bridge over Interstate 94 in Jamestown. Stutsman Co. Elev. about 1495ft. 46° 48' 32.9MN, 98° 42' 46.5"W. UTM 14 521903E, 5183996N (NAD83/WGS84).
