The New York Botanical Garden Plants of COLORADO Grindelia squarrosa (Pursh) Dunal var. serrulata (Rydb.) Steyerm. CO: Ouray Co. Along US 550, 16.8 mi S of Montrose-Ouray Co. line, 3.3 mi S of jet with CO 62 at Ridgway, ca. 1.9 mi N of jet with CO 23 at Portland. Plants common but clumped in red, clay soil along hwy shoulder. Individual plants forming small clumps. 1.5-2.0 ft. tall. In some cases clumps made up of many single stemmed individ- uals. In full flower, some leaning over, may have been hit with a car.
