Only a few plants found in rocky, clay soil
on hwy shoulder and adjacent gravel road
shoulder. 1.0-1.5 ft. tall. Plants appear
to be perennial which is unusual for this
taxon. Growing in sagebrush-juniper area.
Large heads, recurved bracts.
Growing and apparently hybridizing (Wetter &
Delendick 776B & 776C) with G. laciniata
Rydb. (Wetter & Delendick 776A).
(Note: plants were pressed at BKL several
days after they were collected)
