Plants of COLORADO Grindelia squarrosa (Pursh) Dunal var• serrulata (Rydb.) Steyerm. CO. Dolores Co.: along US 666, just E (within 500 ft.) of the UT-CO state line, 5.9 mi W of jct CO 141 & US 666 near Dove Creek, 15.7 mi W of jct US 666 & US 191 at Monticello. Plants quite common along rocky hwy shoulder and in clayish, hard soil in adjacent pasture. 0.75-2.0 ft. tall. Most plants with 1-several stems from the base. In full flower. Growing with various weeds and growing intermixed and apparently hybridizing (Wetter 977) with the radiate G. laciniata Rydb. (Wetter 978 & 980). This taxon most numerous near the hwy shoulder. Wetter 976 is part of the same taxon and collection but from the Utah side of the border. T41N, R20W Elev. 6800 ft. Mark Allen Wetter 979 27 Aug 1986 Univ. of Wisconsin Herbarium (WIS).
