Plants common in rocky, clay soil on hwy
shoulder and adjacent gravel road shoulder.
Most plants with multiple stems from a
taproot. 1.0-1.7 ft. tall. Perennials.
Growing in sagebrush-juniper area. Also
growing intermixed and apparently hybridizing
(Wetter & Delendick 776B & 776C) with G.
sauarrosa (Pursh) Dunal var. serrulata
(Rydb.) Steyerm. (Wetter 776D).
Upright bracts, narrow heads.
(Note: plants were pressed at BKL several
days after they were collected)
