Plants quite common along rocky hwy shoulder
and in clayish, hard soil in adjacent
pasture. 0.5-2.0 ft. tall. Most plants with
multiple stems from the base, perennials,
some still with last year's stems still
attached, also forming new rosettes on
flowering plants. Many plants well past
flowering. Growing with various weeds and
growing intermixed and apparently hybridizing
(Wetter 977) with the radiate G. scruarrosa
(Pursh) Dunal var. serrulata (Rydb.) Steyerm.
(Wetter 976 & 979). Wetter 978 is part of
the same taxon and collection but from the
Utah side of the border.
