of Utah-Colorado state line.
plants scattered along hwy shoulder in red#
clayish soil. Area shows evidence of recent
disturbance by heavy equipment. 0.5-2.25 ft
tall. Some plants forming small multi-
stemmed clumps. Apparently perennial, last
years stems persisting on some. Although
young heads appear gummy, gum is not as
sticky as in other Grindelia1s but seems to
form a protective shield over heads. Growing
with Lactuca, Helianthus, and Artemisia.
Elev. 6800-7000 ft.
