Grindelia laciniata Rydb. NEVVYORKKITANICAL GARDEN 02876586 Plants scattered along hwy shoulder'in red, clayish soil. Area shows evidence of recent disturbance by heavy equipment. 0.5-2.25 ft tall. Some plants forming small multi- stemmed clumps. Apparently perennial, last years stems persisting on some. Although young heads appear gummy, gum is not as sticky as in other Grindelia's but seems to form a protective shield over heads. Growing with Lactuca, Helianthus, and Artemisia. Elev. 6800-7000 ft.
