Plants scattered but common in red, gravelly soil along eroding roadside bank. 1.0-2.5 ft. tall. Shorter plants may have been mowed. Most branching from the base. Basal rosettes common on mature plants, apparently perennial. Seedlings common. Growing with elms, grasses, and tumbleweeds.
