Plants growing in gravelly soil of roadside
bank and ditch. Common but scattered. 1.0-
2.2 ft. tall, some plant may have mowed.
Perennials, flowering plants forming new
rosettes. Some single stemmed individuals
present, others with 2-several stems arising
from a taproot. Ants common on plants,
biting when disturbed by collecting.
Growing with Yucca, Opuntia, and other
Asteraceae. Also growing intermixed with the
radiate G. revoluta Steyerm. (Wetter 552A).
About equal nos. of both taxa present.
