Plants of COLORADO
Grindelia fastigi ata E. Greene
CO: Mesa Co. Along Interstate-70, 6.4 mi E
of Colorado-Utah state line.
Common but scattered in median area of
Interstate-70, in gravelly, gray soil. Only
one plant in flower, 1.5 ft. tall. Evidence
of mowing, 2-3 basal rosettes present, but
infested with caterpillars. Growing
intermixed with Wetter 567 (£. squarrosa),
and also probably hybridizing with it.
Plants of Metter 567 show some genetic
influence from £. fastigiata.
