I. iEcidial stage: A true Roestelia developing in the
fall on small globose or somewhat irregular galls or dis-
tortions on leaves or small twigs (of Juniperus Virgini-
ana). Peridium long exsertcd, fragile; margin laciniate
or fimbriate, not recurved; cells broadly oval, easily
separable, cell-wall conspicuously ribbed. Spores small
17.5 to 19.5 by 19.5 to 27 micromillimeters, globose or
polygonal, apparently smooth.

III. Teleutosporic stage following the iEcidial stage
on the same galls in spring Sporiferous masses usually
few, short and inconspicuous. Spores 2-celled, irregular-
ly orbicular, oval, oblong or double- conical, resembling
those of G. macropus, 18.5 to 29 by 29 to 55 micromilli-
meters. Promycelium and sporidia unknown.
