Mainly broken quartzite, limestone. Dominates include
Ambrosia dumosa, Ephedra, Larrea. Others: Mirabilis,
Grayia, Rafinesquia, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Krameria
erecta, Ambrosia salsola, Lepidium fremontii.
Herbaceous perennial, 3-4dm tall; leaves lobed, hairs
unbranched; flower bracts deep red.
