ASTERACEAE
Herbs to 5ft tall, occasional, flowers whitish-pink to white,
stems & leaves often reddish. Growing in a narrow strip of
“old-field” vegetation, in moist to wet loamy soil (Scio -
urban land complex, 0-8% slopes; coarse-silty, mixed, active,
mesic Aquic Dystrudepts). Growing with Artemisia vulgaris,
Bidens frondosa, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Daucus carota,
Doellingeria umbellata (= Aster umbellatus), Eupatorium
fistulosum, Euthamia graminifolia, Festuca sp., Juncus
effusus, Linaria vulgaris, Lythrum salicaria, Melilotus sp.,
Oenothera biennis, Panicum virgatum, Phalaris arundinacea,
Scirpus cyperinus, S. polyphyllus, Solidago canadensis,
Symphyotrichum novae-angliae (=Aster novae angliae),
Trifolium pratense, Typha latifolia, Verbena urticaefolia &
Vicia cracca. Between the City of Cambridge Water
Treatment Facility & an old railroad track paralleling Fresh
Pond Parkway (Rt. 16), about 0.2mi NE of the intersection
