Ca. 100 acres of open water w/ extensive
littoral zone w/ dense rhizomatous stands of
Nuphar polysepalum, Brasenia schreberi, and
Potamogeton amplifolius surrounded by
floating Sphagnum mats to the N and E. Shrub
carr community on mat dominated by rather
dense stand of Betula pumila, Alnus incana,
Salix spp., and Spiraea douglasii w/ an
understory of Carex lasiocarpa and C.
rostrata. Water chem.: pH 7.6; alkalinity
45 mg/L; conductivity 97 mmhos; hardness 42.8
mg/L CaC03. Abundance: common in understory
of B. pumila/Alnus sinuata on Sphagnum mat.
