stem, leaf Used as roof thatching in cyclone
houses. Cut this grass in the morning, let dry
for 2 days, and then use to weave the roof of a
house. This is thicker and heavier than a coconut
leaf and will last several years longer.
leaf When indicating something is tabu (scared,
forbidden), tie the leaf and put it in on object,
such as ripe bananas. People will understand it is
tabu and will not take it away.
