Michael J. Balick #4799 N.V. Naknao Apen [Natuar] NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN 03468724 BOTANICAL 9ard£** leaf Used to help heal wounds. If a person has a cut on their body, take a mouthful of these leaves and chew, wrap in Macaranga sp. leaves, and put in fire to heat. Squeeze juice that comes out on the cut 4x daily for as long as needed to heal the wound. stem The stems of this plant are cut to 2 ft. long pieces, sharpened and then used to throw at flying foxes to knock them out of the air. stem To harvest kava, sharpen a 2 in. long stem and scrape soil away from the kava. It won’t dis- turb the roots of the kava like a shovel or spade would. stem Use stems of this plant to fashion the limbs of hunting bows. stem This species yields a good firewood.
