leaf Used to help heal wounds. If a person has a
cut on their body, take a mouthful of these leaves
and chew, wrap in Macaranga sp. leaves, and
put in fire to heat. Squeeze juice that comes out
on the cut 4x daily for as long as needed to heal
the wound.
stem The stems of this plant are cut to 2 ft. long
pieces, sharpened and then used to throw at flying
foxes to knock them out of the air.
stem To harvest kava, sharpen a 2 in. long stem
and scrape soil away from the kava. It won’t dis-
turb the roots of the kava like a shovel or spade
would.
stem Use stems of this plant to fashion the limbs
of hunting bows.
stem This species yields a good firewood.
