stem When a woman is pregnant, should she de-
sire to know the sex of her child, this plant is con-
sulted. Two people will split the end of a green
stem of this plant and pull apart. If the seams pull
completely apart, the child is said to be a male.
If it does not come apart, the child is said to be a
female.
