The Ethnobotany of Vanuatu Gregory M. Plunkett #2971 N.V. Manari-lanupag [Nafe] leaf After a young boy is circumcised, a special kava, known as tapuga is prepared. The leaf of this tree is then tied to each branch of the plant, with strips of dried Pandanus sp. leaves. This plant is one of two plants that are symbolic for the tribe, and affixed to every tapuga.
