MOJAVE DESERT, CALIFORNIA Sphaeralcea ambigua A. Gray Det. Thomas H. Kearney, 1952 Shrub 0.3-1 m. tall and as wide, with numerous erect branches from base; petals brilliant orange. On rocky mountain slope, Larrea-Encelia-Franseria association, altitude ca. 2000 feet. Pinto Mountains near Supply Mine, just within southern boundary of San Bernardino County. Hblen K.
