45 deg. 39'N, 84 deg. 22’W. Elev. 580- 590 ft. Mix of
Tsuga, Pinus, Acer, Abies, Thuja, Larix. Glacial
till, old lake beach ridges, sand. Flowers white,
sweetly fragrant; rather common small tree ca. 3 m
tall. Inflorescence declining; forest near road.
