  • Description

    Pileus 2-5.5 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, deep orange (6A8), very finely matted, slightly sticky when wet, with even margin. Flesh yellowish white (3A2), slowly staining light tan, with odor not as fragrant as some other Oz balloui's, but mild, and taste mild. Tubes adnate to nearly subdecurrent with age, with fine pores, pale yellow (4A3), with pores staining light brown, rather shallow in length. Stipe 4.5-7 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, generally equal and tapering at base, sometimes curved, otherwise strict, dry, deep orange above, light yellow near base, white at base, densely but lightly scurfy pruinose above, fibrillose below, with interior as in pileus. Spores ellipsoid, barely subreniform in profile. Hymenial cystidia (pseudocystidia) abundant.
