Flora of the Paumonek Wetland, Long Island
Prunus avium (L.) L.
NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: 
Huntington Station, in the Paumonek Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School, near edge of the woods next to the athletic field. 
Bark grey-brown with prominent lenticels;
flowers white; bud scales and newly emerged leaves are sticky. Medium
sized tree, approx. 15.24 m tall, mostly in decline and decay, missing
most of its limbs. Growing in an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with
Lindera benzoin, Celastrus orbiculatus, Toxicodendron radicans, Acer
platanoides, and Eurybia divaricata.
