On a dry slope at the woods edge. In full flower; ray petals pure white, newly opened disk flowers yellow changing to purple. Very common. Growing in an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Carya, Lindera benzoin, Celastrus orbiculatus, Lonicera japonica, and Phytolacca americana. Matthew C.
