Description
Pileus 3-5 cm broad, convex to plane, slightly tacky to barely subviscid, matted subvelutinous to matted subtomentose, bright yellow (4A8) with scattered, fine, orange (5A8), suberect squamules, with margin imperceptibly projecting and sterile. Flesh white, unchanging, with mild to slightly pungent odor, and mild slightly bitter (tardily) taste. Tubes adnexed, white when young, becoming vinaceous pink, slightly light brown when bruised. Stipe 6-10 cm long, 4-9 mm broad, equal to barely subclavate to slightly broader towards base, dry, coarsely reticulate at first, less so with age, yellow at first with light brown below, brownish orange with age, on a whitish to pale yellow ground color, with interior white, sometimes hollow, unchanging, with white at base and with white rhizoids.
